Officers - Job Descriptions & Responsibilities

The APTA MO Board of Directors is composed of chapter officers, five directors (one being the Chief Delegate) and the District Chairmen.  Below are a list of the APTA MO Board of Directors positions followed by a short description of their purpose within the board and the association.  For a full explanation of a BOD position description and responsibilities click on the title of the position.

 

President: (Serves one year as President Elect prior to taking office.  This is a 3-yr term.  Presidents can serve for no more than 2 consecutive terms.  At the end of the President's term(s) the President serves for one year as Past President.)  The President presides over all meetings of the Membership, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee and is responsible for communicating the official association policy and recommendations within and outside the Association.  This position is open to eligible member PTs only.  President is a voting board position.  The President Elect and Past President do not vote.

 

President Elect: The president-elect shall be elected at the spring meeting every 3rd year (e.g. 1992, 1995, etc.). The elected person shall serve in this capacity for one full year, and, shall then assume the office of President at the close of the spring meeting which concludes the one year term of president-elect. This is a non-voting board position open to eligible member PTs only.

 

Vice President(This is a 3-year term, eligible to serve for 2 terms.)The vice-president assumes any responsibilities of the president upon request and is primarily responsible for updating the procedure manual and bylaws. This is a voting board position that is open to  eligible memberPTs only.

 

Secretary(This is a 3-year term, eligible to serve for 2 terms.)The primary function of the secretary is to accurately record the minutes of official chapter meetings and to maintain permanent records of these meetings. This is a voting board position that is open to eligible member PTs and PTAs.

 

Treasurer(This is a 3-year term, eligible to serve for 2 terms.) The primary responsibility of the treasurer is to manage the finances of the Missouri Physical Therapy Association. This is a voting board position that is open to eligble member PTs and PTAs. This is a voting board position that is open to eligible member PTs and PTAs.

 

Directors(This is a 3-year term, eligible to serve for 2 terms.)The director shall serve as a liaison between membership, committees, and the Board. The Director is a full voting member of the Board of Directors. This is a voting board position that is open to eligible member PTs and PTAs.

 

Chief Delegate(This is a 3-year term, eligible to serve for 2 terms.)The Chief Delegate is responsible for coordinating activities related to the House of Delegates (HOD). The Chief Delegate is a voting APTA MO Board member. 

 

Chapter DelegateThe chapter Delegates serve as official representative to the APTA House of Delegates of the chapter and districts in which they are elected. This is a district level position elected by district members.  PTs and PTAs (1 PTA only allowed to serve) are allowed to serve.

 

PTA Representative:  (This is a 2-year term, eligible to serve for 2 terms.)The PTA Representative serves as the voice of PTAs to the APTA MO Board of Directors, attends the APTA House of Delegates. The PTA Representative is not an officer/voting board member per the APTA MO bylaws, but this position is a very important liaison to the APTA MO Board.

 

 Nominating Committee Member  A new member of the nominating committee is elected annually.  Members are elected to a 3-year term and each new member will succeed to the Chair Position in the third year.  The nominating committee is tasked with seeking and vetting potential candidates, and securing a slate of eligible candidates for the APTA election.
