February Student Spotlight

"The Best way to predict your Future is to create it."

Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States

The MPTA places tremendous value on our student members. The student members of today will become the future leaders of our organization. Our student members are truly creating their own future; at a very early stage in their careers they see the value in their profressional organization.

Each month the MPTA will place a spotlight on one of our tremendous student physical therapists or student physical therapist assistants. Please contact Sylvia Czuppon, MPTA Social Media Chair, if you would like to recommend a student for our Spotlight page.

How to Get Involved:

I attended the Midwest Student Conclave in the fall of my first year as a DPT student. The incredible student atmosphere and professional networking opened my eyes to our profession beyond the classroom. From community service to advocating on Capitol Hill we can make an impact NOW! But, you do not need to be the APTA Student Assembly (APTASA) President to be involved. You don’t even need to hold a position. You just need to start!

6 Ways to Get Involved and Stay Involved

1.     Start now! It does not matter where you start, just that you start! The biggest regret students have is waiting too long to get involved. So jump in!

2.     Become an APTA member and MPTA member: Get all the benefits of membership on a state and national level.

3.     Join the conversation on Social Media with APTASA & MPTA: Follow the APTA and MPTA! Like the APTASA on Facebook and follow on Twitter. Join the #XchangeSA chats on Twitter every month!

4.     Join the MSSIG! Be a student leader in your state!

5.     Meet your Core Ambassador (CA)! Your CA can help you get in the Loop and be involved on a state and national level.

6.     Attend a Conference: Start local with Missouri’s Biannual State Conference or Midwest Student Conclave. Work you way up to a national conference like NSC, CSM and NEXT!

Lastly, ask questions. “Good Leaders ask Great Questions” – John C. Maxwell. Be insatiably curious with your knowledge, you profession and your life. If you have any questions about involvement or want to network please feel free to contact me at!
