Title of Presentation: The Practice Act: Your Resource to Good Practice
Course Description: The members of the Advisory Commission for Physical Therapists will present a review of the Missouri Physical Therapy Practice Act and how to use it as a resource to guide your practice in all settings. They will review how to look at physical therapy from the eyes of the consumer. Course Learning Objectives:
Speaker info: The Missouri Physical Therapy Advisory Commission Bill Hopfinger, PT is the Chair of the Advisory Commission for Physical Therapists. Bill has been an MPTA/APTA member for over 30 years and served as MPTA’s Government Relations Chair prior to his appointment to the Advisory Commission. He is the President of Rehab 1 Network in St. Louis and St. Louis Home Health. Judith Pastorino, PTA was appointed to be the first PTA member of the PT advisory board. Judi has been a member of MPTA/APTA for over 30 years and has served in many roles at the state and district level including most recently the office of Secretary of the MPTA. She is currently employed by RehabChoice with her home base being Columbia, Missouri. Tammy Burlis, PT, DPT, CCS was appointed to the PT Advisory Commission in 2010. She is a board-certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy Specialist. Tammy is the Assistant Director of the Professional Curriculum, and Associate Director of Clinical Education at Washington University in St. Louis. Jim Dronberger, PT, DPT, OCS, MBA, was appointed to the PT Advisory Commission in 2012. He has been a member of MPTA since 1978 and he has held several positions on the MPTA Board. Jim is a Professor of Physical Therapy at Rockhurst University.

Title of Presentation: Moving from the Basics to Living Life After a Neurological Insult
Course Description: This 2-hour seminar will focus on treatment for individuals following neurological or other life-changing diagnoses. We will look at a patient's long-term goal and break it down into specific tasks. We will analyze movement needed for other functional/recreational activities. Treatment ideas and handling techniques will be presented to assist the individual's return to his/her desired functional activities. Course Learning Objectives: 1. Be able to define quality of life 2. Identify several tasks that lead up to a desired functional activity that promote independent living 3. Analyze movements required to complete the functional activity 4. Create treatment activities to simulate the various tasks for the activity 5. Recognize ways to facilitate the desired movements during the tasks Content Level: Various Speaker Info: Robin King, PT, C/NDT, CCCE graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Health Science - Physical Therapy. She has worked for CoxHealth for 22 years, and has been a therapy manager on the inpatient rehab unit for 13 years. Mrs. King received her NDT training at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in 1998 and her certification in 2010. She has been the clinical coordinator of education for CoxHealth since 1999. She enjoys sewing, scrapbooking and spending time with her family. She and her husband reside in Springfield, MO.

Title of Presentation: How to Protect Yourself in a Board Investigation Course Description: It could happen to you…and what you know and do not know about Board investigations can make or break your practice. Be prepared and informed by participating in this session presented by Commissioner Sreenu Dandamundi. Course Learning Objectives: 1. What to do when contacted by the board’s investigator 2. Weighing your options 3. How to respond to the board’s investigator 4. Possible non-disciplinary outcomes 5. Possible disciplinary outcomes Content Level: Various Speaker info: Sreenivasa (Sreenu) Rao Dandamudi earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) in History and a Master of Arts from the American University (Washington, DC) in International Affairs. Upon graduation from Washington University School of Law (St. Louis) in 2001, Commissioner Dandamudi served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri where he represented several professional licensing boards, including the State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts. In February 2006, after a brief period of solo practice, Commissioner Dandamudi accepted the position of General Counsel with Healing Arts. He served in this position until March 2010 when he was sworn in as a Commissioner to the Administrative Hearing Commission. As Presiding Commissioner, he oversees the Commission’s budget and legislation. As Managing Commissioner, he oversees the Commission’s personnel. In November 2007, he was selected by the Federation of State Medical Boards to serve as a member of the faculty for its Board Attorneys Workshops. He served as a member of this faculty until he left Healing Arts in March 2010 to begin his position with the Administrative Hearing Commission. In addition to his work with the State of Missouri and the Federation of State Medical Boards, Commissioner Dandamudi has been active in the Missouri Bar Association, including participation in the 2006-2007 Leadership Academy class. In June 2012, he participated in a 7-member bipartisan delegation to China and Taiwan sponsored by the American Council of Young Political Leaders. Commissioner Dandamudi also volunteers his time as a member of the Board of Directors of Affinia Healthcare (formerly known as Grace Hill Health Centers, Inc), a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, and is Immediate Past President of the South Asian Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Title of Presentation: Identification and Evidence-Based Physical Therapy Intervention for the Patient with Conversion Disorder.
Course Description: This presentation will integrate current research evidence with the clinical experience of the presenter in evaluating and treating patients with conversion disorder. Emphasis will be placed on identifying common red flags from the medical chart review and physical therapy neurologic examination, as part of the differential diagnostic process. Prognostic indicators for improved mobility will be discussed, followed by plan of care development unique to this patient population. The final portion of the presentation will demonstrate how specific interventions for conversion disorder can be integrated into common treatment approaches, and assessed using appropriate outcome measures. In 2001 he became board certified as a Clinical Specialist in neurologic physical therapy, recertifying in 2011. Jason has practiced in a variety of clinical settings and currently works part-time for CoxHealth at the Meyer Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield. He recently joined Missouri State University's Physical Therapy Department as an Assistant Professor and is currently completing a Doctoral degree in physical therapy through the Arizona School of Health Sciences at A.T. Still University.

Title of Presentation: Common Dysfunctions Within the Upper Extremity
Course Objectives: 1. Understand some basic concepts of the body tensegrity model 2. Understand the performance pyramid and the joint by joint model as it relates to upper extremity function and dysfunction 3. Understand the presentation, perpetuating factors, and some treatment strategies for: a. Common subacromial pathologies to include internal impingement, external impingment, and rotator cuff tears b. Neural entrapment pathologies to include thoracic outlet syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, and cubital tunnel syndrome. c. Medial and lateral epicondylitis. Content Level: Various Speaker Info: Mark Coalson, MSPT, OCS serves a dual role as both manager and clinician at St. John's Outpatient Physical Therapy in Nixa. Mark graduated in 1995 with his BA in Kinesiology and, in 1998, his Master of Science from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Services in Des Moines, Iowa. Mark's career has revolved around orthopedics. He earned his Orthopedic Certified Specialist credentials while practicing with St. John's.

Title of Presentation: An Integrated approach for successful management for lower extremity amputee’s
Course Description: This presentation will describe the importance of adopting an integrated approach to the management of prosthetic patients and how CoxHealth’s unique treatment model has demonstrated high patient and staff satisfaction, improvement in functional outcomes and efficiencies with patient care. Functional tests with be explained and demonstrated to help prosthetist’s and therapists with the criteria componentry selection in conjunction with supporting Medicare’s K level system. Prosthetic gait analysis tips and treatment strategies will be discussed a long with pre and post prosthetic treatment plans will be demonstrated to improve functional outcomes. State of the art prosthetic technology as it relates to microprocessor knees and elevated vacuum suspension systems will be demonstrated along with the criteria selection process with emphasis on evidenced based practice on the usage of such devices. Course Objectives: 1. To be able to successfully use functional outcome tools and documentation with prosthetic users to support K-level selection. 2. Identify and implement treatment strategies for Common Prosthetic Gait deviations. 3. Develop pre and post plan of care treatment approaches for various levels for lower extremity amputees. 4. To understand selection criteria for microprocessor knees regarding functional level and level of amputation. 5. To understand limb volume management and make recommendations regarding limb volume and socket fit in patients with elevated vacuum suspension. Speaker Info: Fred Lerche, PT, C.PED serves as the Administrative Director for CoxHealth Outpatient Therapy Services and the Center for Prosthetics and Orthotics. Fred received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Southwest Baptist University in 1993. He has 23 years of experience specializing in amputee care and working with patients with foot and ankle dysfunction. In the past he has taught Prosthetics and Orthotics as an adjunct faculty member for Southwest Baptist University and for Missouri State University. He has lectured at the national level on the management of complex Foot and ankle dysfunction and on lower extremity amputee rehabilitation. Fred has served as a Guest instructor at the Amputee Coalition‘s National Meeting in their Gait Analysis lab.
Steven Keeton is a Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist working at the CoxHealth Center for Prosthetics & Orthotics in Springfield, Missouri. Steven completed his Orthotic and Prosthetic training at Median School in Pittsburg, PA, after attending The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. Steven is certified by the Board of Certification International in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and also is a licensed Prosthetist/Orthotist. He is a subject matter expert for BOC, serving on the item writers committee for the past 5 years. He holds certifications in multiple microprocessor technologies for lower and upper extremity prosthetics. Previous work experience includes working with the VA system and private outpatient clinics. He specializes in difficult to fit cases along with sub-atmospheric transtibial and transfemoral fittings. Steven lives in the Springfield area and enjoys golfing and sporting events.
Chris Cobb, PT is the Clinic Manager of the CoxHealth Center for Prosthetics & Orthotics and Outpatient Therapy West in Springfield, Missouri. Chris completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Drury University followed by a Bachelor of Health Science in PT at the University of Missouri. He has worked for CoxHealth for over 17 years as a physical therapist in all settings, and as the clinic manager since its inception in 2014. Chris has lived in the Springfield area his whole life, growing up in Ozark, MO, where he currently lives with his wife and two daughters.
Adam Edmonds is a Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist for the CoxHealth Center for Prosthetics and Orthotics in Springfield, Missouri. He completed his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University Indianapolis, IN. He successfully completed Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Adam is certified by the American Board of Certified Prosthetists and Orthotists in both Prosthetics and Orthotics. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, and the Lower Limb Prosthetics Society. Adam received his Fellowship from the American Academy of Orthotics & Prosthetics in 2015. Prior to CoxHealth, Adam’s professional experience includes private practice as an Orthotic & Prosthetic Technician and Resident. He has experience in CAD/CAM, pediatrics, spinal and lower limb Orthotic & Prosthetic devices and gait analysis. Adam lives in the Springfield area with his wife and two boys. He enjoys exercising and reading.
