Join your colleagues at the State Capitol in Jefferson City on February 23rd, 2022!

Time to get ready for the 2022 Legislative Session - and to get ready for APTA Lobby Day!  APTA Missouri will once again be promoting Direct Access; and our champion in the House, Rep. David Gregory, has already pre-filed HB 1555 which will allow patients the right to choose to see a PT without first being mandated to see a physician for a referral.  We will also be protecting against referral for profit.

These are issues that can impact PT practice considerably.  Come to Lobby Day.  Educate our legislators about the physical therapy profession and advocate on behalf of patients.

PTs and PTAs who attend can earn up to 4 hours of CE.  An educational PowerPoint will be distributed to all registrants to help prepare you, so it is important that you register.  You must view the PowerPoint prior to Lobby Day to earn the CE. Sign-in and out is required. 

At 7:00 a.m. please arrive at the MILLBOTTOM EVENT CENTER, 400 W. Main St., Jefferson City, MO 65101. We highly recommend car-pooling.  Parking will be available in the lot behind the center, but it is limited.  After a brief welcome, and some instructions, we will form groups and walk to the Missouri State Capitol.  

AGENDA:

7:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. – APTA MO Lobby Day Kick-off, Meet at MILLBOTTOM EVENT CENTER, 400 W. Main St., Jefferson City, MO 65101

7:45 a.m.  – 8:00 a.m. – Gather in pre-assigned groups, and walk to the Capitol.  Go through security check point at North or South entrances, and gather in the First Floor Rotunda.  Guides will be in the group to help you.  Firearms or other weapons are not allowed.  A beverage is allowed in your purse or hand, but all bags and pockets will be checked and or emptied. 

8:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. – Welcome Message from legislators, First Floor Rotunda

8:30 a.m. –10:00 a.m. –  Groups (each with a PT or PTA leader) will begin to make legislative visits.  You are encouraged to walk the halls, meet with legislators, and distribute APTA MO information to

legislative offices.  

10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  – The legislators will go into session.  Attendees are encouraged to watch from the galleries and observe the process.

10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. -  Exit the capitol through any door and meet back at First Christian Church to discuss visits.  Pizza will be served.  CE Certificates will be distributed to PTs and PTAs who attend.

Lobby Day is the perfect opportunity to meet legislators face to face, thank them for their past support of the physical therapy industry, and educate them on the critical role PTs and PTAs play in Missouri’s healthcare system.   We also encourage you to download the APTA Action App to your mobile device from the app store prior to Lobby Day.

PLEASE WATCH YOUR E-MAIL FOR INFORMATON ON OUR LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS FOR THIS SESSION.  THE STATUS OF BILLS CAN CHANGE QUICKLY.  We will use this time in the Capitol to build relationships and ensure the physical therapy profession is protected and growing.  We need to show PTs, PTAs, and students are aware that legislators CAN and DO influence your practice.  Please join us to show your support!
