"The Best way to predict your Future is to create it."
Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States
The MPTA places tremendous value on our student members. The student members of today will become the future leaders of our organization. Our student members are truly creating their own future; at a very early stage in their careers they see the value in their profressional organization.
Each month the MPTA will place a spotlight on one of our tremendous student physical therapists or student physical therapist assistants. Please contact Sylvia Czuppon, MPTA Social Media Chair, if you would like to recommend a student for our Spotlight page.

MPTA would like to recognize Ana as the MPTA 2017 April Student Spotlight!
Graduation Year: Southwest Baptist University Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2018 Research:
Currently I am working on a systematic review examining the efficacy of manual physical therapy treatments on the remediation of mechanical causes of female infertility. This is an up-and-coming area of pelvic floor physical therapy that has not been researched a great deal.
Other Accomplishments: During my second year of physical therapy school I took on the roles of APTA Student Assembly Core Ambassador for Missouri and APTA Brand Champion. These roles have been tremendously rewarding and I am excited to maintain them for another academic year. As an occasional relief from school I accepted a co-chair position for the merchandise committee at SBU. Also, for the past two years I have lead what I call my "Blessing Bags" project which provides supplies to fight the winter cold for homeless individuals in the Springfield community. Without the help of my fellow SBU DPT students this project would not be possible, but thanks to their donations of snacks and cold weather gear I have been able to pass out about 40 bags to individuals in need.
~~ During my time in the SBU DPT program I have been encouraged to deeply reflect on not only what I have learned, but also where I have come from. Recently I have started to look back on my path to physical therapy school and realized that although my path to PT was not perfectly straight, it is something that sets me a apart and a reflection of God's work in my life. Developing self-reflection skills prior to entering the field is something that I encourage all PT and PTA students to take the time to do, because I have seen a positive impact in my own life as a reflective practitioner in the making. - Ana
