May Student Spotlight

"The Best way to predict your Future is to create it."

Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States

The MPTA places tremendous value on our student members. The student members of today will become the future leaders of our organization. Our student members are truly creating their own future; at a very early stage in their careers they see the value in their profressional organization.

Each month the MPTA will place a spotlight on one of our tremendous student physical therapists or student physical therapist assistants. Please contact Sylvia Czuppon, MPTA Social Media Chair, if you would like to recommend a student for our Spotlight page.

My message to other students:

Being involved is simple. When you have passion, you dive in head first. Being creative is the hard part. Find the link between your passion and your vocation. Luckily, physical therapy is the most versatile profession for a broad range of interests.

Make your own opportunities. Take advantage of the doors that open. However, do not rely on these handed chances. A mistake I made as an early student was to wait for an opportunity. Be a leader. If there is a position you want, run for it. If there is a group you want to be a part of, join. More importantly, if there is a group you want but does not exist, create it. It will take time. It will take effort. But you have passion on your side. It is not a chore to stay up late at night doing something you enjoy. Waking early becomes easier working with those that relate to you. Your involvement within the MPTA, within the community, within physical therapy, is not a commitment. It is an investment to the future you and your beliefs.
