July 2017 Student Spotlight
Share |

"The Best way to predict your Future is to create it."

Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States

The MPTA places tremendous value on our student members. The student members of today will become the future leaders of our organization. Our student members are truly creating their own future; at a very early stage in their careers they see the value in their profressional organization.

Each month the MPTA will place a spotlight on one of our tremendous student physical therapists or student physical therapist assistants. Please contact Sylvia Czuppon, MPTA Social Media Chair, if you would like to recommend a student for our Spotlight page.

The July Student Spotlight Shines on

Nathan Whitmer!!

MPTA would like to recognize Nathan as the MPTA 2017 July Student Spotlight!

Anticipated Graduation Year / School:

2017 - Missouri Western State University

  • 2017 - PTA Student of the Year Nominee

  • 2017 - Dean Hoff Outstanding Achievement Award Nominee

Partnering with my professor, the MWSU Nursing Department, and student volunteers we worked to assess fall risks with patients at a nursing home.  Selected individuals were given a home exercise program.  We monitored the patients' progress and their fall risk for one year.

Other Accomplishments:

Elected PTA President 2016 - 2017 - As President I organized a Welcome Party for 1st year students, helped establish guidelines for student professional development funding, and helped organize several massages as a fundraiser for our chapter.

Pursuing my PTA degree has been an amazing journey.  I am thankful for the opportunity to pursue my passion of helping others and supporting healthy lifestyles.  I would like to thank my wife and kids for their continued support and love.

- Nathan
