Accomplishments 2005
Legislative
- Successfully defeated bill to repeal current
ban on POPTS in Missouri thanks to the legislative
team of John Bardgett, Government Affairs Chair
Bill Hopfinger, and almost 300 participants at
the 2005 Lobby Day
- Helped contribute to saving Missouri’s Early
Intervention Program, First Steps, due to the
help of Sue Allen and her contact with Senator
Michael Gibbons
- Currently working with the Medicaid Commission
to re-create a more cost-effective Medicaid system
Regulatory (Advisory Panel on Physical Therapy
to the State Board of Healing Arts)
- Continues to work on enforcement of anti-POPTS
law
- Working with Veterinary Medicine Board to resolve
issues associated with the ability of PT’s to
treat animals in Missouri
Education
- Moved spring conference from the Lake to rotate
around the state in an attempt to reach more
members through continuing education and chapter
business
Reimbursement
- Gwenna Peters continues to meet with insurance
medical directors from BCBS, UHC, and Medicare
to educate on physical therapy
- Investigating ways to change BCBS of Kansas
City’s policy on non-reimbursement of electrical
stimulation
Financial
- Transitioned to new CPA firm for Chapter financial
overview
