How do I become a member of the MPTA?
To be a member of the Missouri Physical Therapy
Association (MPTA), you must also be a member of
the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

on the phone
or obtain membership information, or visit their
website at www.apta.org. If you have questions

How do I obtain a license in Missouri?
The licensing agency in Missouri is the State Board
of Healing Arts. Questions regarding obtaining
a Missouri license should be directed to (573)
751-0098.
What if I have questions about the Practice Act?
The State Board of Healing Arts can answer any
questions you have regarding Missouri law as
it affects physical therapy practice. Contact
the Board at (573) 751-0098.
Does the MPTA sponsor annual conferences? The
MPTA holds two conferences a year in April and
October. Educational sessions with Continuing Education
are provided.
Does Missouri require Continuing Education?
Missouri law requires 30 hours of continuing education
every two years for physical therapists and physical
therapists assistants. At this time, the Board
of Healing Arts has indicated this will take
effect in 2000, with 30 hours being required
for licensure renewal in 2002.
